Bit of a quiet few weeks since Southwold. Training has been a bit sporadic as I'm so busy with work. Also I have a bit of pain in the right hip flexor which is slowing me down a bit. Otherwise all good.
Looking forward to Xmas to get a break from work and get in a bit of quality training.
Purchased training peaks for the year and I'm starting to build a program.
Ran the Turkey Trot 10mile last week. First result that I have been disappointed with this year. 1:20:04.
Anyway. Merry Xmas.

Southwold 10K - 24th November 2013
I did the Southwold 10k this morning in a new fastest time of 45:53
We'll chuffed.
What made the day really special though was sharing it with my in laws Steve and Margaret, my sister in law Jaimee and most of all Melanie. I have never felt so proud in all my life. 10 weeks ago Melanie and the in laws couldn't run for a minute, today they completed their first ever race. Steve did a 1:09 and Margaret and Mel 1:17. Massive achievement for all of them. Jaimee rounded it off in a 1:02.
Just shows what a bit of dedication and perseverance can do. They are usually standing at the finish cheering me on so it was brilliant to wait for them and cheer them over the line.
The run block has really paid off for me this Autumn. 2mins off my 10K PB and I feel like a runner for the first time ever. Bit of a crossroads now. IM training starts January. So 5 weeks of limbo. Easy week this week and I might do a strength block in December as well as start to ramp up the swimming again which I have let slip lately. Biking isn't bad with a couple of sufferfest sessions a week.
For now though feet up, beer and curry time.

Here We Go Again - 21st October 2013
So after a few months off I have entered the Outlaw again. I honestly didn't realise that going long would be so addictive.
I actually struggled for motivation after the race and trained sporadically all summer. Come September though and I got back on the wagon. I ran 110mile in September, biked 300mile and swam 17000m.
Biking has taken a bit of a back-burner lately as the weather is poor. I have started the GYCC sufferfest Tuesday night sessions which are keeping the legs spinning, but to be honest I'm just enjoying the running at the moment.
Got my park run time down to 22:25 at Gorleston cliffs. I did the chase the train a few weeks ago.
http://nnbr.co.uk basically you have to beat a steam train over a 8.95mile route.

Chase the Train is a 8.9 mile race from Aylsham to Wroxham.
It follows the footpath next to the Bure Valley Railway,
Norfolk’s longest narrow guage steam railway.

I averaged 7:43min/mile and finished in 1:09:15. I would have beaten the train if the police hadn't buggered the start up!
Yesterday I did the Great Yarmouth 10K and set a new PB of 46:35 (7:27"/mile)
It was windy and wet, with half of the course into a 20mph headwind. Very happy with the time.
Day off today then back to it tomorrow.
